B'right: What if personal AI served society?
What if ubiquitous personal AI could actually serve society — countering polarized media, helping people see past narratives designed to divide us?
I built a first demo to test this idea: an app that helps people find common ground on divisive topics.
The origin: My partner and I were stuck debating corrupt countries at an airport. Turns out we were using different definitions of corruption — we were both right, but could not see it. That is where the name came from: b'right = both right.
What the app does
- Two people enter their perspectives on a topic (or use Listen In to speak it)
- AI searches the web for context
- Returns common ground + nuanced additions to each view, with sources
- Premium voices narrate the summary aloud
- Use when needed (maybe once a month... maybe extended family gatherings), not daily
Try it
I cover 100 uses per day globally (one per device), so there is always free access. After your free use, 20c per topic (no subscription).
Technical details
- Stripe payments (Revolut Pay available)
- 25% of revenue goes to carbon offsets (carbon negative)
- Export as PDF (no app-install spam)
- No login, no tracking, no conversation storage (unless you flag a response)
The broader question
What if we had personal AI that helped us understand policy proposals, coordinate with neighbors, see past media narratives designed to divide us? This app is demo #1 — using AI to counter polarization.
I believe most people are fundamentally good and want what is best for everyone. I am not trying to scale this into something big — I am exploring what AI as public infrastructure could look like.
Feedback welcome
- Does this vision resonate?
- What other use cases would demonstrate this concept?
- How would you increase impact in this scenario?
